🍺 Nikon 14 24 2.8 Z Review
Verdict. Available in black or silver, the Viltrox AF 23mm F1.4 Z looks right at home on the Nikon Z fc, not least because it has an aperture ring that complements the camera’s hands-on approach to control dials and buttons. It’s one of a trio of f/1.4 lenses, the 23mm, 33mm and 56mm giving effective focal lengths of about 35mm, 50mm and
When Nikon released the Nikon D3, they also introduced the Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8 and 14-24mm f/2.8 lenses as well. While the midrange zoom was a nice update to the old Nikon 28-70mm f/2.8, what caught people's attention was the unusual 14-24mm f/2.8 , which replaced the venerable 17-35mm f/2.8.
Product description. Ultra-wide with a flexible-yet-exacting design, the NIKKOR Z 14-24mm f/2.8 S from Nikon is a wide-angle zoom distinguished by its advanced optical design and bright f/2.8 constant maximum aperture. This fast design suits working in low-light conditions when shooting handheld and also offers improved depth of field control.
Versus Nikon Z 14-24/2.8. Nikon Z 14-24mm f/2.8. The Nikon Z 14-24mm f/2.8 is much heavier and more than twice as expensive. It can't use filters unless you use the big included hood and whopping 112mm filters.
The 17-28 seems to fit your needs better, being compatible with your current filters (while I assume you need to buy larger ones to fit the 14-30). Although the 2.8 aperture probably won't be extremely helpful to you, the option is there to shoot if needed e.g. indoors in lower light. 2.
4 days ago · At 450g, the Z 17-28mm f/2.8 is 35g lighter than the Z 14-30mm f/4 S, which has a 1-stop smaller maximum aperture yet a wider zoom range. It’s also 250g lighter than the Z 14-24mm f/2.8 S. This makes it more attractive for anyone trying to keep weight down (as well as cost), and for those using the lens for video.
The 400mm f/4.5 VR S can be used with the 1.4x and 2.0x Z-mount teleconverters, which provides the options of 560mm f/6.3 and 800mm f/9 capability. Front filter size is 95mm, by the way, probably a size you don't own. As I noted, this new lens is shorter than you might expect for 400mm: 9.3" (234.5mm).
Stopped down, the Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8G shows better overall performance across the frame. Let’s take a look at the two lenses at 24mm: The Nikon 16-35mm f/4G VR improves significantly at 24mm in the center, but at the expense of mid-frame and corner performance, whereas the 14-24mm f/2.8G also sees a pretty drastic drop in overall sharpness.
The Nikon 14-24mm, the Nikon 20mm 1.8G, and the Zeiss 21mm all have great colours. The 14-24 and the 20mm 1.8G are subtly different, the zoom tends to be cooler and the 20mm is a little warmer, with better colour saturation and highlight rendering. Globally they are very similar. Compared to the Zeiss, they are totally different.
The maximum aperture of f/2.8 is definitely a specification I like on the Nikon Z 14-24mm f/2.8 as it allows enough light to come through the lens to take astrophotography photos. Shooting at f/2.
